The TL;DR
BlurShield scans everything locally on your device. We absolutely never upload, send, store, or transmit your screen contents, API keys, passwords, or personal data to any server. Ever.
1. Local Processing Guarantee
BlurShield operates entirely within your browser. The core functionality—scanning your screen, identifying sensitive patterns, and applying visual blur effects—all happens on your local machine using regular expressions and DOM manipulation.
- No external APIs: We do not send textual content to any external server for analysis.
- No telemetry: We do not track the URLs you visit or the content you view.
- No remote execution: The scanning engine does not rely on cloud infrastructure.
2. Data We Collect
To provide licensing and operational functionality, we collect the bare minimum information required:
- Account Authentication: When you sign in to verify your Pro license, we use Google Authentication (Firebase). We store your email address solely to associate it with your license key.
- Settings Configuration: Your preferences (e.g., custom blur intensity, enabled features, Custom Patterns) are stored strictly inside your browser using Chrome's
chrome.storage.syncAPI, which synchronizes securely with your Google account. We do not have access to this data.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to handle account management and payments:
- Google Firebase: Used securely for sign-in functionality and license verification.
- Lemon Squeezy: Used as our merchant of record to process payments securely. BlurShield never sees or stores your credit card details.
4. Permissions We Request
BlurShield requests certain Chrome Extension permissions to function fully. Here is why we need them:
activeTab&scripting: Necessary to scan the active page for secrets and apply CSS blur filters over them.storage: To save your configuration and preferences locally.identity: To securely process Google Sign-In for license management without requiring passwords.notifications: To alert you when a secret is accidentally copied to your clipboard.
